I get emails from YouTube anytime someone subscribes to my YouTube channel, or makes a comment on one of the videos I’ve posted there.

So I knew something was up Monday when my inbox started getting inundated with comments to this instructional “Crab” dribble video featuring Farmington HS (Minn.) girls basketball coach Jason Berg and some of the players on his 2007-08 team:

The clip, produced for Coach Berg and the benefit of the Farmington Travel and In-house Basketball organizations and their coaches, went from 1,071 views on YouTube in one year, up to 9,987 views in one day! And as I write this, it’s now up to 23,835 views.

Well, I can thank Lebron James for trying what he described as a crab dribble at the end of the Cavaliers game with the Wizards on Sunday, and getting called for traveling. Fanhouse has the story and the video of Lebron.

But my video clip actually got the boost on YouTube because of a link from deadspin, in its post about Lebron. For some reason, they embedded Coach Berg’s video for their rant.

And my email inbox went nuts.

Funny how the Web can work.

My thanks to the Farmington Travel Baseball Association for creating a page to house the recent instructional video clips I produced with the Farmington High School baseball coaching staff.

The travel and inhouse baseball coaches and players in Farmington can access this page on their Web site to view the clips.

Thanks again to the FHS coaches for taking the time work with me on the drills and tips during their season, which will allow the youth programs to be in line with what’s being taught at the varsity level regarding hitting, pitching and fielding.

I recently put the finishing touches on some instructional softball video clips featuring tips and drills from the Farmington (MN) HS softball coaching staff.

All 23 clips are here.

Are you a high school coach, looking to get some short video drills for the youth coaches in your community on the Web in a professional, affordable way?

Had a great chance this Spring to work with the Farmington (MN) High School baseball coaching staff on some video tips and drills.

Head coach Mike Winters and his assistants Jason Berg and Jon Graff each took a turn in front of the camera to cover several fundamentals including hitting, pitching, infield, outfield and catching.

Similar to what I did with the FHS basketball coaches in 2007, these baseball clips are now housed on my YouTube Channel. But in partnership with the inhouse and travel youth baseball organizations in Farmington, the clips will be accessed through their Web sites for coaches, parents and players to get ideas for their individual and team practice times.

Here’s a link to the clips.

Check them out and let me know what you think. If your school or youth league in the Twin Cities is interested in doing something similar, for any sport, let me know at kevin@kevinhuntvideo.com.

I’m still amazed at the viral nature of YouTube. One of the clips with the FHS boys basketball team has been viewed more than 10,000 times in just nine months!

One of the video projects I’ve been fortunate to work on has resulted in some nice resources for youth basketball coaches not only in Farmington, Minnesota but beyond – thanks to YouTube.

Farmington HS varsity coaches Shane Wyandt (Boys) and Jason Berg (Girls) agreed to work with me on some short video clips featuring a variety of basketball drills. Everything from shooting and ball handling to defense… and more.

The clips were done on behalf of the Farmington Youth Basketball Association to help its travel basketball coaches, players and parents see some of the drills the high school coaches put their players through. I had a great time working with the coaches and players – as I am also a travel basketball coach and appreciate all the help I can get to plan my team’s practices.

The clips are posted on the FYBA’s Website but are actually housed on my YouTube channel – and get this, the number of views for one of the clips right now is listed at more than 2,000!
